One of the methods I've figured out gets people closer is just by calling them by their names. The importance of names are not often understood by a lot of persons. I've come to realize that I tend to become dearer to people around me and they get to feel as important as ever when ever that are called by their names. It applies even when you haven't had any word with the person before.
Names are more like we individuals ourselves. Names are more like a summary of what we are. In several occasions, I've had lovely conversations with people whom I barely speak with or don't even speak to at all just because I call them by their names.
